Shaveen Green

Class of 2002-2004

Fredrick Douglas Academy

Topic (2001): Isolation, Detection, and Cellular & Molecular Characterization of Circulating Sin Tumor Cells from Cancer Patients

About:

Shaveen was a student at the 'Frederick Douglas Academy' in West Harlem. She interned in the 'Minimal Residual Laboratory' at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center under the direct supervision of Dr. Sat Bhattacharya. She was entrusted with a very sophisticated project "Detection and Characterization of Circulating Cancer Cells from Cancer Patients" using the most advanced Genetic Engineering Technologies. She worked diligently towards its successful fruition. She was among the top ten students from the Metropolitan area selected to present their work at the National Convention of the American Chemical Society that took place in Boston where she was honorably mentioned. She has also won several other awards over the past years, including the prestigious "New York Times Scholarship."

Presently Shaveen is a student at the prestigious Swarthmore University where as usual she is excelling in her studies and doing extremely well in other activities.
