Banana Kelly High School

Topic: Drug De-sensitization Studies

Research Paper (pdf)

About:

This past summer was a very good experience for my group members and me. I spent the summer working at Beth Israel Medical Center under the supervision of Dr Mary Lee-Wong. We were taught the basics of her research - Allergy and Immunology. Then we learned about Drug Desensitization. Desensitization is a medical procedure in which when someone is allergic to a specific drug that - they need a doctor who will give them the drug in very small increments which later increases till the drug is tolerated. Sometimes this procedure can lead to death and sometimes it can come out successful. Overall during my summer I researched different successful desensitization and compared them. I had a fun time and learned a lot of information I have never learned before.

Now when I go back to my school, Banana Kelly High School this September I will like to share with every one all the excellent things the Harlem Children Society has to offer. The process to get accepted was very tough but it was well worth it.
