Nicole MulvihillI have been a Media Studies student at Hunter College since 2006. Previously a student at Pace University , I transferred from a more journalistic curriculum to Hunter’s hands-on Film and Media program. While I desired more hands-on learning, what I got was a broader view of the social issues facing the world today and realized what a tremendous teacher arts and media can be. Through Hunter College’s Mentoring Program, I was paired up with the wonderful Roe Bressan who saw the potential I had and assisted me in obtaining internships in post-production and production companies. Both companies were for profit, giving me a much better understanding of the media business. However, Hunter’s commitment of raising social awareness has been instilled in me and I feel that the under-served population of society deserves to be seen and heard just as much as corporate funded opinions. |
