Nakimuli FrancisClass of 2005 Coalition H.S. for Social Change Topic: Malaria About: My name is Nakimuli Francis. Nakimuli is an African name. In Africa, it is a flower. I am always shining. My school is Coalition School for Social Change. It is locate on 58 th St. on the West Side. I am shy. I am funny (when I want to be). I love to swim (preferably in the ocean) because there are no limitations. I am a perfectionist (some of the time). I love math. I am intelligent. I love traveling, the color blue, and parrots. The HCS Research Program is a very highly enriched program. I can honestly (not being pressured here) say that I came into this program with knowledge and walking out with ten times more knowledge than I came in with. I really enjoyed it. I will be looking forward to coming back next year (if I do not travel, which I love so much). This is one program I will be talking about and bragging to my friends for the whole school year. My research is on Malaria. Malaria consists of four types, which are falciparum, vivax, ovale, and malariae. It is part of the genus Plasmodium. P.anopheles is the female mosquito’s scientific name. P.falciparum is the most dangerous malaria. P.vivax is the most common form of malaria. P.ovale and P.malariae are both unbearable. P.ovale is mainly in tropical West Africa. P.malariae is a worldwide but very irregular spreading. The female mosquito gives malaria. The male mosquito gives a regular mosquito bite. The various weekly talks were very very educational. I leaned a lot. I did not know that you could open up your own account at sixteen without parents consent at Chase Bank. I learned the difference between a savings account and a checking account. With a savings account you can only put money in. With a checking account, you can put money in and take money out. You have to write a check to take money out. I learned that diabetes People have to record write own what they eat daily on a sheet. I thought they only record what their pressure is after they take their blood. I knew that they take tablets. Through this experience to be in this program, I have crossed paths with a lot of good people. The experience was a very good and rewarding experience. I am very proud of myself being in this program. Thank you. I thank you once. I thank you twice. I thank you a million times. |
