I am fifteen years old. I live with my mother and my two brothers. I go to High School of Medical Science in the Bronx. I am in the 11th grade only for the first semester. Starting January when the second semester starts, I will be senior, graduating in June of 2005. When I was in the 10th grade, a good man named Dr. Sat Bhattacharya came to my school looking for students for his Internship Program. I was selected by my school principal to be one of those students. However, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya was looking for only two students, out of the ten who were selected for the interview. So he interviewed each student and thank god I was selected. It was my first ever experience, and I was very excited. I was assigned to work in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer with my mentor, Dr. Ronald Blasberg. I did my research on nucleoside transporters. I worked in labs with different doctors and they taught me many new things. I want to thank Harlem Children Society and especially Dr. Sat for giving me the chance to learn more and expand my horizon. I am so blessed and honored to have this great opportunity and experience in a new environment with so many intelligent people. I want to thank Dr. Sat Bhattacharya for allowing me to accomplish this goal. I want to thank my mentor and all the great people I worked with in the lab. Finally I want to thank Harlem Children Society for giving me and other students a good learning experience for the future. Thanks! |
