Shaquia JacksonClass of 2005 H.S. of Medical Sciences Topic: Second Hand Smoke: A Silent Killer About: My name is Shaquia Jackson. I go to High School for Medical Science. For my interview, I went to MSKCC along with other schoolmates and was interviewed by Dr. Sat personally. We were asked personal questions along with questions about your future. I was selected to be in the Harlem Children Society in May. I think that the Harlem Children Society is a great program for people wanting to pursue a career in medicine or science. Twice every week we have various seminars and talks in which students present what they have been doing for the past 2 months. Along with these presentations various people come and talk to us about what they do or thing we can do to be successful. This summer I was in a program that dealt with science and how to go about your career. We would go to various universities as well as go to different preceptorships with scientists. We were located in Medical Center. This program was great because we had help with how to apply to colleges as well as help on what type of career we would like to pursue. This experience has helped me to decide on what to do with my life. I think this program is a wonderful program and a great way to help students decide on major decisions. |
