About:

My name is Sobella Quezada and I am a senior at the Academy of Mount Saint Ursula in The Bronx. As a second year student in the Harlem Children Society Program, it is my pleasure to say how much this program has helped and taught me. In school and in other aspects of life when people hear of what I have been doing these last two summers, they are truly amazed that a teenager can do so much in just a little over two short months. I even have to admit that I myself am surprised sometimes.

Through the guidance of my mentors I have received exposure to various environments and direction that many teenagers do not receive until later in life. During my second summer I was given the opportunity to work in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine alongside Dr. Konstantin Dobrenis, conducting research on lysosomal storage disorders. The experience was more than worthwhile because I felt as though I was helping individuals afflicted with the ailments that arise from an accumulation of substrates in the body, especially in the Central Nervous System. Once again I would like to thank Dr. Sat and everyone else for all of their devotion to the program and giving us the opportunity to learn and discover so much about the scientific world.
