About:
Hello, my name is Jian Wang. I am currently sixteen years old and a junior attending Manhattan Hunter Science High School. I got into the Harlem Children Society when I was in my freshman year. I was kind lucky because Dr. Sat Bhattacharya paid a visit to my school and interviewed ten students. He picked two out of ten students and I was one of them.
During the last summer, Dr. Sat told me to go to Columbia University Hospital for an interview by Dr. Adriana I. Colovai (my mentor). At first I was kind nervous because I never had an interview by a real scientist before. When I went for the interview, I found out that my mentor Dr. Adriana I Colovai was a very nice person and she let me work in her lab. This year, I really had a wonderful time working with my mentor Dr. Adriana on our project. I learned many things in the flow cytometry lab; I learned how to separate lymphocytes from the blood. Also, I learned how to analyze cells using multi-set.
In conclusion, I want to thank my mentor for teaching me all the skills. I also want to thank Dr. Sat for recommend me to my mentor and teach me how to be successful in life. Finally, I will thank Harlem Children Society for give me the opportunity to experience in the science field.
